SAFFRON GIMLET

BARAWARDS 2009

Friends of good drinks,

we would like to share with you some moments from the prestigious Barawards 2009, in which Bugsy’s bar defended it’s title from the year before in the Cocktail bar category. It’s almost 15 years that we have been preparing cocktails for you every night, and are always happy to be rewarded by your favor. In the next year we are planning some changes in the design of Bugsy’s bar, a new cocktail menu and one more surprise. Dinner in the Sky

During a beautiful September weekend, Bugsy’s bar took part in a unique gastronomical project. The world famous Dinner in the Sky took place from the 17th to the 19th of September on “Dvořákovo Nábřeží“in Prague. After Thursday’s gala dinner that was prepared by cook Zdeňek Pohlreich, the Bugsy’s crew took over and prepared drinks for curious visitors. It was the first time we had a chance to prepare drinks in the height of 40 meters on a platform. We would like to thank you for your support and share with you a couple of picture.

Bugsy’s bar took part in the Prague Food Festival

In the last weekend of May, between the Charles and Manesuv Bridge, the 3rd Prague food festival took place. This year for the first time bars had a chance to take part in this great project. Among the great culinary cuisines of great chefs, guests had a chance to have a glass of champagne or a cocktail from the Bugsy’s Bar offer. It was a big challenge for us and a great opportunity to present ourselves. We prepared an interesting selection of cocktails, a wide variety of champagnes, and our colleague Ondra prepared a small presentation in molecular mixology for our guests. Our expectations, only thanks to the chilly weather, where only slightly under what we expected and we hope that if we have the chance to take part of the Prague food festival next year.


WORLD COCKTAILS DAY - FOTOGALERY

The Bartender's Holiday is at hand, and this year S&B GastroTeam (www.sbgt.cz) and Bugsys bar (www.bugsysbar.com) have decided to put together two different faces of bartending. On one side we have the classical cocktails that where the founding stones of bartending today, and on the other side we have twisted modern cocktails that copy today's trends. Every participant of the event will have the chance to taste 5 classical cocktails written down by Jerry Thomas in the year 1887 and five ultra-modern cocktails created in the last year. We have also decided to combine the 13th of May (World Cocktail Day) with a charitable organization "CENTRUM PRO VŠECHNY" (www.centrumprovsechny.cz) to which all the proceedings shall be given.

MAURICE HENNESSY AT BUGSY’S BAR

Dear friends of Bugsy's bar,

The Bohemian Train visits the Elton John concert

Bugsy’s bar had the unique opportunity to become one of the main partner’s of the newest project of the Czech Railway. The Czech Railway prepared a special train that traveled to Berlin to visit the Elton John concert. During the six hour trip to Berlin the famous cook Dusan Jakubec prepared a 4 course menu which was served in luxurious Taittinger restaurants. During the return trip the whole train was transformed into Bugsy’s bar on wheels, and our soul purpose was to ensure the comfort of all our guests using great DJ’s, Champagne and delicious cocktails. After a unique experience we returned to Prague and hope that next time we will again be the one’s chosen to provide the best service possible.


HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009

As alwasys the last day of the year was celebrated with glamour and style in Bugsy’s bar. This year we had our very own heavenly party. Waitreses and bartenders where dressed as angles, the devil was somewhere around and st. Peter was at the door buying up everybody‘s sins. The atmosphere was heavenly and the party ended at dawn.
We would like to wish you all the best of health, a big portion of luck and a very good mood in 2009. We hope to see you all soon.
