Charles Waterhouse acquired the rights to distill alcohol for the Irish province of Munster for 6 Irish shillings and 8 pence (1608).
The statistics for the import of cognac to the USA in 1881 were published. According to these the list was headed by Otard, Dupuys & Co. with 64 775 gallons or 239 667 litres; Joseph Hennessy was second, the Martell Co., third (1882).

The Provincial Political Administration confirms the legal continuance of the International Bartenders Union in the Czechoslovak Republic (1922).
Francesco Cinzano I, as the Syndic of the Master Distillers University in Torino, sent king Albert of Savoy a petition in which he pointed out fraudulent practices in wine production (1836).

The Heaven Hill Distilleries, Inc., (Bardstown, Ky. USA) filled their four millionth barrel of Bourbon Whiskey and laid it down to mature. They thus accomplished the processing of 34 200 000 bushels of maize (about 1 197 000 000 litres) which became the basis for 1,7 billion bottles of their spirits (1998).

A wagon loaded with 2000 bottles of dubious champagne was “sentenced” and destroyed by champagne producers in defense against the import of cheap wines to the Champagne region and the production of champagne from raw material of poor quality, during the so-called Vintners’ Revolution (1911).

The Prefect of the Champagne region promised the vintners to do everything in his power to prevent the import of other wines to the region and so eliminate the faking of champagne (1911).

Jock, the bartender of Harry’s New York Bar in Paris, came-up with a recipe for the Scoff-Law cocktail. It requires tossing 1 dash of Orange Bitters, 2 cl of Canadian whisky 2 cl of dry vermouth, 1 cl of lemon juice 1 cl of grenadine in the shaker (1924).

Born at the British Embassy in Paris, William Somerset Maugham, who later in life greatly appreciated an extra- strong Martini cocktail prepared by his friend, the American ex-WWI army driver , Gerald Haxton (1874).
Oskar Weinstein, Lionell Stock’s son-in-law, was entered in Plzeň (Pilsen) regional court’s business register as the owner of real estate in Božkov, including the former distillery (1920).
